At its Eleventh Regular Session in Rome in 2007, the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture requested FAO to prepare, for its consideration at its Sixteenth Regular Session (2017), the first authoritative assessment of the state of the world’s biodiversity for food and agriculture.
The Commission stressed that this assessment would take full advantage of existing information sources and information provided by countries through the submission of national reports. Reports from international organizations, inputs from other relevant stakeholders and thematic studies will also contribute to the assessment.
A set of guidelines has been prepared for the preparation of country reports and is now available at http://www.fao.org/nr/cgrfa/biodiversity/guidelines/en/
