Monitoring the project
Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC)
A Free Prior and Informed Consent (FIPC), on the model of the “Code of Ethics” developed by the International Society of Ethnobiology , was shaped with the community members engaged in the project. Though the farmers and genebanks had a long standing collaboration, this was an appreciated first step to establish a formal relationship of trust amongst the genebank and the community members, safeguarding the farmers’ knowledge and materials.
