Planet Under Pressure Conference 2012 – Call for Abstract

July 29th, 2011

Abstract submission for Planet under Pressure 2012: New Knowledge towards solutions is now open for participants.

This international conference will provide an update of the challenges our planet is facing and will focus on sustainable solutions to them, besides providing scientific guide with a view to the 2012 Conference on Sustainable Development which will held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The conference will last four days. Day 1 will focus on the state of the Planet, day 2 on Options and opportunities, day 3 will concentrate on Challenges to progress, clarifying what is slowing the implementation of solutions, and day 4 on Ways ahead, by exploring new partnerships and pathways to achieve global sustainability.

The conference will involve a wide range of experts, young scientists, policy makers, media, health specialists and academics from many disciplines.

“Given the mounting evidence of the sheer scale of global changes we are witnessing, the scientific community has a responsibility to urge public officials, citizens, and private firms in all countries to focus on the need for major policy changes to avoid major irreparable damage to our planet. I sincerely hope the 2012 conference will make a significant contribution to placing sustainability on everyone’s agenda”, said Elinor Ostrom, 2009 Nobel Prize for Economics winner and Chief Scientific Advisor to the Planet Under Pressure Conference.

Deadline for submission of abstracts is September 16th.

Planet Under Pressure 2012 will take place at the new London International Convention Centre (ICC) from 26th to 29th of March 2011
