Second International Conference on Climate, Sustainability and Development in Semi-Arid Regions

December 23rd, 2009

Drylands are usually under-represented in climate action and development discussions even though the IPCC predicts they will be severely affected by climate change. The Second International Conference on Climate Change, Sustainability and Development in Semi-arid Regions (ICID 2010) intends to bring together policy makers, scientists and members of civil society to promote secure and sustainable development in semi-arid regions.

The conference will focus on identifying challenges and opportunities for the future of arid and semi-arid regions with participants sharing varied experiences and generating recommendations to support national and international policies and practices.

The event, taking place from 16 to 20 August 2010 will be divided into four thematic areas: climate information, climate and sustainable development, governance and sustainable development and policy processes and institutions.
